Opportunities at NSR

25th May 2011

Hi guys

Looking towards the end of this term, we need to consider the future of NSR after the summer break. Northbook Student Radio is run by a group students who maintain and manage all of its affairs – for example programming, technology, events, publicity and community. In order to keep the station running into the autumn, we need more of you to get involved with the management committee and help us out with just a few tasks.

It’s not a huge commitment of your time and you’ll definitely learn a lot from the experiences. To get involved and find out more, please send us an email through opportunities@nsr.fm

All the best,

Michael, Will, Kit and Lucy

The Great Escape

17th May 2011

Northbrook Student Radio was at the Great Escape in Brighton last weekend. Over 300 artists played at over 30 venues, and without enough time to see them all, of course priorities needed to be made. Tim Fusciardi is compiling a special podcast which you can expect very soon, covering the festival highlights.

We’re already excited for next year, be sure to visit escapegreat.com and sign up to the mailing list to be the first to know about the super early bird tickets for 2012!

Back on air

26th April 2011

NSR is back on air tonight with the eclectic mix of tunes you have come to expect from Tuesday nights!

Hope you’ve all had an excellent break, and you can be sure we’ll be hosting your soundtrack to the summer term right here on NSR.fm

So if you fancy something a little more local this summer, hop on the train and come along to Stanmer Park for 10 hours of music and partying.

Summer Break 2011

11th March 2011

Yeah you probably got yourself buried in coursework that’s due in a matter of hours when just a couple of days ago seemed like you had ages to finish it. There are exams coming up soon on stuff you know nothing about but probably should. Lets fast forward a couple of months shall we… imagine this!

Coursework, done! Exams, done! The sun is shining and you haven entire to summer to enjoy. Why not head down to Newquay for what looks to be a crazy 96 hour party! 96 hours!!! That’s 4 days of non-stop partying.

The line up has just been announced and heading down to Summer Break, you will be able to see and party with some of the biggest acts around today. From a DJ set courtesy of Chase and Status to Kissy Sellout, Nero, Shy FX, Example all the way to Brighton based Krafty Kuts and Radio 1’s Annie Mac. This will be the ultimate way to celebrate finishing off those niggly bits of coursework that have been hanging over you all year and an excellent treat to yourself after those stressful hours of sitting exams.

This isn’t like any of festival, set in the popular seaside location of Newquay, Summer Break will have its very own private beach with a student village of caravans. Alternatively, you can always bring a tent down and do the old skool festival accommodation.

Perhaps 96 hours of music is a bit much even for students? Well do not fear, from enjoying the sandy beaches, there is also surfing, ‘beach olympics’, space hopper races and a whole host of other venues and activities right on your door (caravan or tent) step.

So what you waiting for, this all happens in June so grab your mates and get onto http://www.summerbreak.co.uk/ to book yourself an 8 person caravan and one messy, crazy 96 hour party. That should make the coursework a little more bearable.

Little Known Records Preview

10th March 2011

Last week we gave you a little promotional piece on a project one of the guys in Northbrook music department is undertaking. Little Known Records. I had a quick look over their facebook page and they’ve got some great stuff going on at the moment. One thing I noticed was they had a video of one of our ex-NSR DJs, Ruby Taylor, performing a track for them. As the video says “Although this won’t be featured on the upcoming compilation, it’s well worthy of a listen.”       Check it out below.
